Common signs

Do any of these signs sound familiar?

Many discomforts originate in how you place your foot — and you may already be treating them as normal.

That pain you already consider normal

The callus that always comes back

The shoes you can no longer wear

The sport you had to give up

Pain in feet, knees or back

Plantar fasciitis or heel pain

Overload when walking or running

Fatigue when standing

Many discomforts don't improve because no one has properly analysed your gait.

At Bionika we analyse how you move to understand the real source of the problem.

Care and maintenance

Caring for and maintaining your insoles

To keep your insoles in good condition and extend their useful life, it's important to follow a few simple care and maintenance recommendations.

Cleaning

  • Clean the insoles regularly with a slightly damp cloth.
  • If necessary, use water and mild soap.
  • Do not submerge them in water or wash them in a washing machine.
  • Leave them to air-dry in a ventilated place, away from direct heat sources.

Proper use

  • Use the insoles in the footwear they were adapted for whenever possible.
  • Check that they are correctly positioned and do not shift during use.
  • Do not fold or roll them up.

Avoid heat

Do not dry the insoles with radiators, hairdryers or heaters, and do not leave them exposed directly to sunlight. Excessive heat can deform or damage some of their materials.

Changing footwear

If you're going to use the insoles in different footwear, especially if it has a very different last, height or features, it's advisable to check with us beforehand to make sure the fit is suitable.

Review every 6 months · FREE OF CHARGE

At Bionika we recommend having your insoles reviewed every 6 months, free of charge. During the review we check their condition, assess material wear and detect whether any adjustment or maintenance is needed.

If you notice new discomfort, changes in the way you walk, or that the insoles are no longer as comfortable, don't wait for the periodic review — get in touch with us.

Footwear

The right footwear: the key to getting the most from your insoles

The insole works inside the shoe. A few footwear recommendations help your custom insole fit well, stay in place and perform as it should.

Recommendations for choosing suitable footwear

Removable insole

Always choose shoes whose original factory insole can be taken out. Removing it creates the space needed to house your custom insole without squeezing the foot or changing the shoe size.

Correct last and depth

Avoid narrow lasts, pointed toe boxes or very flat uppers. The shoe should offer enough height and volume in the forefoot area so the toes are not compressed.

Secure fastening (laces or Velcro)

It is essential that the shoe allows a good adjustment over the instep. Laces or Velcro straps stop the heel from sliding and ensure foot and insole work as one unit.

Stable heel counter

The back of the shoe (the heel counter that surrounds the heel) should be firm and structured, not soft or collapsible, in order to give the rearfoot stability.

Cushioned sole with a good base

A sole with good thickness and grip is recommended; avoid shoes with excessively thin or extremely flexible soles that offer no postural support.

Moderate drop

A slight height difference between heel and toe (1 to 2 cm) usually favours posture and walking comfort.

Bionika tip when buying new shoes

When you go to buy new footwear, always take your custom insoles with you. Try the shoes on directly with them in place (having first removed the manufacturer's original insole) to check that the hold, the instep height and the toe room are correct.
